@retoor Glad I could be of service ;-) .
Just so I'm clear - you're going for case-sensitive approach, or case-agnostic one? -
retoor18381d@D-4got10-01 ah fuck, got distracted! Now fixed it. Insensitive it is! https://retoor.molodetz.nl/retoor/...
-
retoor18381d@D-4got10-01 I just wrote a tool if my repos are up to date (https://retoor.molodetz.nl/retoor/...) and i have freaking 29 repos not up to date :P I have to check from 29 projects if they are in correct state, should be pushed or reverted :P Dammit!
-
retoor18381d@D-4got10-01 there's a new app for tikker: https://molodetz.nl/retoor/tikker/... . It will make a list of your most used commands, and yes, your password will be in there too :P You only have to put this file in the directory of the database, then execute `python3 tags.py --index` and then `python3 tags.py --popular` to see your most used things. My list is 50% weird, 50% expected.
It also shows HOW MUCH you used the command. Based on that, I can see that i use vim more than vscode for example. Also, that i execute my password once a hour or so. It's entered 430 times and i'm logging around 430 hours i guess. -
@retoor Insensitive is a nice approach.
Also, damn - I take it 29 projects have been updated locally, but changes have yet to be uploaded to server, yeah? -
retoor18381d@D-4got10-01 Yes. But I also found out that i do not have anything open on the server. So I did not mess up there, which is a good thing. That would've been worse. Server management is OK.
What are you working on? -
retoor18381d@D-4got10-01 my friend almost finished his own version of tikker app. He made in python. 80% less code or so but his application uses two times more CPU in heavy load. Mine does 5% maximum when you're holding keys. His does 10%. They both use SQLite as backend, so that's equal. He used my code as example so, pretty much the same but Python and bit slower.
-
@retoor Daytime, pretty much the same project I had been testing for some 2+ years.
Things are kinda slow, now.
During my free time, still learning that C++... the book is very thick, so it is going to take some time. -
retoor18381d@D-4got10-01 me too. I don't mind much code, we like to program right? Rakketakketak makes happehh
-
retoor18381d@D-4got10-01 cool l, that's a known one I guess. I've read this one actually fully, don't remember anything. (my dad's feet / kitchen on picture, he sent me this picture recently). He always send me a picture it he finds smth from me, especially books because I'm always claiming missing a lot.
I don't remember anything because I've only read it, not do it. Was too busy with other stuff while reading to process it. Waste of time sadly. -
@retoor Very true.
You read something once, chances are you'll soon forget it.
Reading sth multiple times + doing it yields best results.
...but requires time. -
retoor18381d@D-4got10-01 from mistakes you'll learn. If you only read, you're not making mistakes. Also, when you're actually trying the stuff from the book out, you have emotions like happy / frustrated that help you remember it well. Only reading it, will not trigger any emotion at all. It's just some theory, but maybe.. :D
If I will every study C++ again, I will do a different book than those two. Do you recommend your book?
I normally prefer books ~300 pages or so, maybe even less.
I just found my violent python book. It was a lot of fun, all sorts of hacking with python. I did know a lot already but damn, it was fun. My knowledge and perspective regarding brute forcing (https://molodetz.nl/retoor/gists/...) comes from it. In that book they brute force a zip file. I did do that example back then, and I was surprised about how slow it was. Even in C, brute forcing is meh. So, imagine the web. Very safe web password is just: fatpony#1. !generated uid -
@retoor I've quickly checked - my book has slightly below 800 pages...
It is for beginners, so I guess that's fine - they did some explaining of fundamentals before beginning w/ the first examples.
So far I'm actually happy w/ the purchase.
Regarding the brute forcing thing - I have stumbled upon that particular topic of yours.
I was quite fascinated w/ it.
I would think that they're using computer networks for computations to go faster.
But a good mitigation for that is enforcing temporary lockdown after a few failed attempts.
But that depends on what you're dealing w/ .
A local file may !have that option.
Web login - absolutely yes. -
retoor18381d@D-4got10-01 if I needed to Crack some file or program I would copy it /dev/shm first and multithread attack it. But still, every extra byte costs so much more time.. Damn.
