Planning to get a laptop and install Linux on it but the question is should I install Mint or Ubuntu?

I would definitely recommend some flavor of Ubuntu if you aren't sure about the differences and just want to get it up and running.

Arch is a little more advanced, but coupling it with your own desktop environment of choice is a great way to learn how all that works. Definitely doable for a first timer considering all the guides out there, but time consuming.
