IE wont die until M$ actually kill off the explorer shell....

they will just rebrand it, make a "new" engine and add features to it from 2 or 3 decades ago, see Edge.

Chrome should be right behind it with it's metric ass ton of resources it uses now.

To be exact, IE will never die. Microsoft will always have a default native browser shipped along with their operating system. They can’t just not give a browser.

@exceptnEncntr yeah, their default browser is now edge, not IE. From a support from microsoft perspective it's already dead. It just hasn't died because people still use it.

@JoshBent edge may not be the best browser, but it's loads ahead of IE. I need to modify very little if anything to make a website run on edge. On IE however...

@exceptnEncntr Never say never, that'd be like we're giving up hope :( Not all websites can afford to just force the users to switch to a new browser. Ref: https://thenextweb.com/dd/2017/...

@joodoc And that's half the battle, isn't it?

@dontbeevil With Edge, the blame is off MS, but in my country where many people still use Internet explorer, as web designers we still need to support IE. Shame, really

But, if us devs start a thing where websites specifically don't support ie and stop ie browsers from loading the page, maybe we could speed this up?

@ewpratten Nobody likes a monopoly, even if intends to eliminate outdated browsers 😓

@Jilano pretty sure edge comes as the default browser for Windows 10. Not older OS, but 10 yes.

@joodoc I believe some of the early Enterprise Editions came without Edge. The ones meant for running critical tasks of something, I can't recall the term/name
