Split screen is definitely a thing now lol.
And with the big ass phones now, multitasking is more common.
(Also, I listen to music, game, and talk on my phone all at once lol.) -
Doesn't having more RAM mean that it will need to page less frequently under load, and so you can load larger and beefier apps (and more of them) at a time?
Also, multitasking, like the others said. -
@HnDev There's other apps and app combinations....
Not every app takes it easy on RAM. Why don't you actually start giving us your reasoning why there shouldn't be 6 GB of RAM? -
Some games require a significant amount of RAM.
Chrome is notoriously bad at managing RAM usage (not just a desktop issue).
Some apps have the ability to keep themselves alive (such as server applications), and if you're rooted there are ways to bypass automatic suspension from inactivity for all apps.
I run a full PHP web server on my phone, while flipping back and forth to read emails, send chat messages and browse the web. I have 15 or so active aplications at minimum at any given time during a work day, so the added RAM helps to keep things buttery smooth. Sure, maybe not everyone needs it, but some do.
Why not fit in the maximum amount of specs if the price is relatively the same? -
@bitsnpieces Yea. I just have to adjust the volume of the music so its quiet and I'm good. (I have to use headphones with a mic while talking because my voice is low and I hate yelling to my friends and family can understand me lol)

@jhh2450
How can you hear the other person over the music?? I mean it is useful when the other person is just yapping bullshit nonsense. -
@irene and then there's me with a 1.5GB RAM cheapo Samsung phone.
I cry every time I have to run/debug my game "engine" (quotes because it sounds fancier than it is)
Would love a phone with more RAM.
However, I do agree that 2-3GB is enough for everyday usage (browsing, music, a few learning apps). Heck, even my current phone works just fine.

Trying to explain to people why 6GB of RAM on a phone is overkill.
Seriously, you do know your phone can only do one thing at a time right?
And Android still shuts down the app after certain amount of time even if there is enough RAM.
