Well, my time with Slackware is nearing it's end.
It's quite an interesting one, I could really feel it's age, tiny mirrors into the past are thrown around here and there between the modern stuff, reminding you just how ancient this distro actually is. It's really unique (in a good way).
Compiling software to install/update kinda sucks tho, and compared to Gentoo you have less control over the compilation and the options.
The installation was VERY simple and easy, you can definitely see how it became popular back in the day for being an "Easy to install SLS", and to this day it was THE fastest install I have ever seen from a distro, took literally minutes, was surprised.
I also love the ncurses look that keept popping up every now and then, I like the ncurses TUI style.
It was a pretty fun experience.
Next: OpenMandriva.

Wow! Brings back memories of downloading Alan Cox kernel patches and spending hours with "make config" because I didn't know there was a "make menuconfig" option.

Goodluck with Mandrake/Mandriva Linux. It was my second favorite before Slackware before switching to RedHat with the Bluecurve Gnome theme.

Openmandriva, the non woke Linux distro: https://youtu.be/y1AWos_zm6o/.... Can you handle that, are you conservative enough? Can you handle masters and slaves? 😁😁😁😁

Their downloads skyrocketed since the CEO made fun of wokies. I also had it on the plank to try but decided later not to do it, because all my distro tries fail - I love my xubuntu and it's perfect in my eyes. Tried enough shit for now 😁 also I, don't mind that my software is made by confused people. Should give them my support, life's hard enough for them without me canceling them 😁

Downloaded the OpenMandriva just for fun.

Will be a while before I get to installing it, though.

Cool video. The next one that was presented to me was the Bazzite - 'Gaming Linux Distro Targets Children with Trans Cartoons' damn...

Also, I care about the quality of the software, !who makes it.

    Meritocracy all the way.

@retoor man, I love Xfce. Reminds me of Solaris when I was setting up a Sparc Station 10 for a gov agency. Those things were heavy.

@fruitfcker and xfce loves you. That's just how it is! It prolly has still samelayout but with a search bar in the menu probably. Lxde seems to Pepsi? My previous favourite but it didn't have a search bar back then, that's why I swiftii to xfceii long agoii.

@retoor You KNOW I'm conservative lmao, I'm literally fighting in a war, that's already pretty 'right' leaning, I believe in god, you know that lol

But it's not about that, Non-Woke doesn't mean conservative, "I don't want politics in my distro" is not a conservative take, there are a lot of liberals who share the same opinion. Just because wokies are *usually* leftist, doesn't mean leftists are woke or that they like them. I know a LOT of left-leaning people who absolutely despise wokeism, some of them are gay and left-leaning and dislike woke culture.
