So my school forced everyone to buy a Chromebook G4 Education Edition which came with ChromeOS and we had to sign some shady e-policy. Days after I got it, I opened it up and manually reflashed the BIOS so I could use SeaBIOS and install Arch Linux.

Great, so I went on to instal Chrome and it was really slow and performance heavy, then I installed the new Firefox and it ran a lot faster...

*So hehe, Firefox works better than Chrome on a Chromebook!*

@AleCx04 That is true, but I really didn't like using ChromeOS. I had to use things like c9.io and things were blacklisted on the network so I made my own proxy, yada yada. I also couldn't install any extensions.

@Maki yeah it makes sense. The chrome OS is really not suitable for anything outside of the scope of Google apps

When schools try to enfore some kind of e-Policy, I just give em a finger and open my trusty Ubuntu laptop :3

@ShahriyarRulez Someone got suspended recently for watching porn over a proxy. That kinda gave me the creeps considering I can use Tor and my own obfuscated proxy. Eeech....

You should leave that school. Immediately. They don’t know wtf they’re doing.

My old study (graduated last year) invented mandatory use of Google products this year. If I'd still have been at that study I'd literally have quit!

Oh and as for the chromebook, I'd rather cut my balls off than using one of those 😊

Welcome to devRant, seemingly awesome person!
