JS96184557yI was a Notepad++ guy a few years ago, before Atom and Electron (so also VS Code) existed, and the "This is an unregistered copy" message on Sublime Text was too annoying for me (it still is).
It's a perfect, very light, tool to edit files, write pieces of code without the necessity to save them (auto save of temp files).
In the past it was enough, for me at least.
Now I use mainly VS Code, because of a better UI and a lot of unique features, but I still have Notepad++ on my taskbar, which I use when I have to write down something very quickly, or copy paste something.
So I guess a lot of people are used to it and see no valid reasons to move to something new, if they already can do all they need.
You don't know you need something new until you try it. -
It's no different than using Linux as a desktop OS or riding a single gear bicycle.
It's "cool" and makes you seem deep and complex.
Even though you're crying yourself to sleep every night. -
athlon172467y@JS96 @Null-Device well that is why I’m asking. I know there are some people (especially teachers) that will say, the Notepad++ is the one, the only and nothing beats it

justmove7317y@athlon my teachers also used eclipse and the git plugin for it...haven't seen anyone here using np++ for coding though luckily

Dear fellow devs who use Notepad++ as their primary code editor,
Why? I’m curious why you prefer it instead of Sublime Text, VSCode, or Atom? I’m not saying it’s better or worse than other programs, I’m just curious. I’ve tried to use it recently (although it was my first code editor I’ve ever used) and it really felt bulky to me.
Sincerely, Athlon.
