Like I said the i5 6600K will be amazing for gaming, I have one in my gaming PC.
That is because very few games are optimised for more than 4 cores, so for gaming there is little justification for the extra cost.
For development though you really need those extra cores as you're running your apps/emulators at the same time as your debugging environment. If I planned to develop on my home PC I would have got an i7 also. -
