@alexdovzhanyn 1000 WATTS? WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING NEEDING 1000W. ARE YOU MINING BITCOINS AND OVERLOCKING TO 10000000GHZ?
Nah but seriously 1000 watts is overkill. My i9 and 1080ti only need <600 watts. -
@wolt You would think. However it's like the good old dual core Vs quad core argument. Think of two CPUs priced the same.
CPU one:
Dual core
3.6ghz per core (base)
Overclock able
CPU two:
Quad core
1.4ghz per core (base)
Overclock able
A normie would think CPU two is better since the core count is bigger. However CPU one is better. Here are the GHz totals.
CPU one: 7.2 GHz
CPU two: 5.6 GHz
So it really depends on what you're measuring.
Additionally this:
My 7" > your lumpy 8"
Take that ^ as you will. -
Scipio6927yMy first ever PC I accidently switched the small voltage button on the back of the power supply to 225 (European) watt.
Needless to say everytime I turned on the PC it would run for two seconds, turn off and then try to turn on again.
I missed it's first ever post in that regard, but everything else was top notch as far as the build was concerned.
Still have it today as my main workstation. -
Scipio6927y@Pgdevpatryk yep. It's my main workstation right now.
The hard drive failed in it a couple of times. It was a 1 terabyte Western digital black. Second time around they sent me a 1.5 tb drive. Not a bad transaction. -
Nice first build, I applaud your cable management, a lot of my early builds were thrown together on shoestring budgets and looked like a bomb when they were done.
-
@Pgdevpatryk 1000 watts leabes room for SLI expansion in the future plus any capture cards i may want to run
-
@asinglenoob thank you! i actually used zipties ams tried pretty hard to make the cables look tidy
-
@alexdovzhanyn even if you went with 3 way Ali( even though it's not supported) you won't need 1000 watts. However I respect your choice for expandability
-
@Pgdevpatryk yeah thats true but it wasnt much more expensive than a 750w supply and i figured i might as well, its not like the 1000w is being used anyway, it only uses what it needs
-
@jschmold i just watched a lotttttt of youtube videos before building it! that and a shitload of zipties lol, but thank you :D
-
@wolt actually when it comes to power supplies the closer the load is to the max capacity the better the efficiency. I don't remember how I know this but I do know that if you can find an efficiency graph for your power supply you can match your load to make the power supply more efficient
-
I've been thinking about updating my rig as well since Fractal Design just released that sexy af meshify case

@wolt
Betty bought some butter
But the butter was so bitter
That she bought better butter
To make bitter butter, better butter -
aaxa22217y@alexdovzhanyn Cool. Good job.
One thing I'm a bit concerned about, from just looking at the picture is the air flow. In what direction does the fans on the radiator blow? -
@aaxa thanks! the radiator fan pulls cool air from outside the case and pushes it through the radiator, and the fan in the back pulls hot air from the inside of the case and pushes it out
-
aaxa22217y@alexdovzhanyn Cool, no worries then 😄 Unfortunately I'm not a big EVGA fan, but I hope you'll enjoy your new rig ^^ I love experiencing something I've assembled myself to be put into good use
-
@Marlo actually just got the keyboard, i hate small ones. its a mechanical cherry mx
-
Marlo2977y@alexdovzhanyn I've tried your mouse for 1h insta refund my thumb was just pressing on all buttons xD.
-
@Marlo lmao im pretty light with my fingers so i havent really had any problems with it
-
Scipio6927y@asinglenoob Cable management is such a double edged sword. Looks great but a pain when you need to move things around or troubleshoot parts. Brings back memories.
I remember my cousin going to work at vmware hq in Santa clara I believe. Told me they just do not care about cable management in that environment considering how much shifting around they have to do. Messiest desks he ever say
