I'm always for a place that offers collaboration, constructive criticism, and support

devRant is building a great foundation. Some ideas for the future...
Collaborative projects, ability for us to build structured surveys with summary results, best dev practices developed by the community (devRules) and a bridge to help college students understand how developers work in the real world - this will benefit students and businesses. -
It's going to depend heavily on the community behind it. If we're not careful, this might start becoming into just another Q&A.
-
That's the only thing I worried about, it becoming like another stack overflow but it could be more.

dfox426099yGood question! I think the comments so far on this rant all raise good points. We are definitely not looking to become a QA community and always want to maintain a fun, edgy and welcoming community.
We also love hearing ideas from our users about where they'd like to see it go. One that we've liked so far that I think contributes well to the vision and maintaining the fun aspect, is a topic of the week. (1/2) -
dfox426099yThis would be something like, "Rant about the crappiest co-worker you've ever had to work with" and it would be a friendly competition for best stories/rants and there would probably be prizes involved, but we wouldn't make it too competitive.
That's just one idea from multiple users that we really like so far. We still want to hear more thoughts. In the meantime, we have some really cool stuff coming, like a pretty full-featured version of devRant for the web (desktop browser version) -
dfox426099yJust to add one more thing - I definitely like the collaboration idea so let us know if you have any more ideas along those lines or anything specific. Aside from collaborating on projects - just to riff of collab stuff - maybe some way to collaborate with fellow devRanter's on a group of rants or some topic. Just brainstorming. Tons of things to think about and discuss with the community to decide what to build :)

Keep it about rants.
Maybe as the community grows we can have a top ten "rantastic" (sorry) , filterered of the highest scoring rants by date.
A "cool shit" wall where we can post links to great articles, tuts, apps etc. we are always after stuff that makes our life easier, this would slot in nicely.
A "rant rules" preferences where you can follow a bunch of people and their rants trickle to the top on your rant board.
Above all don't spoil it, I don't want to rant about devrant on devrant. -
Making it so that the community may help developing devRant? If not open-sourcing it, perhaps inviting users to help build specific features.

Don't think anyone's posted anything like this yet but if they have I haven't seen it. Where do you see DevRant in the future? I'd like to see a forum or something, maybe allowing people to showcase work or get support on projects. Anyone got thoughts on DevRants future or community? I like it so far everyone's nice.
