I have a coworker who comments every line of code he writes and it doesn't matter how simple the code is and it drives me crazy when I have to look at it. A real life example:

That is painful to read. I can't even imagine a whole class full of that rubbish

I've had teachers that dock marks of you don't do that. And if you think about it it's the students that strive to do really well in class that will become future teachers. It's a sad never ending cycle :(
