Daily stand-ups might seem like a joke when done remotely, but I believe they help unite the team, and they play a key role for project managers, even if they're brief. The bigger issue might be just some of the dev's attitude towards it, and the lack of communication through out the project development.

Or the real issue may be dev's tight deadline and meetings wasting their time if you are just communicating when will you code. Guess who has to work late hours when the deadline is tomorrow

Stand-ups, by definition should be short... I like them... It's a good way to keep an overview

I am pretty against meetings of this kind, dailies, stand-ups or whatever. people working on related stuff are already in sync even without these. as far as PMs are concerned, well... there are deadlines and if they don't suck them from their ass things should be fine, if there are conventions (and docs if necessary) everyone can be up to speed if they need to be.

take GitLabs team for example there are no offices and the product is great... there are tools + if I am distracted because I was fucking working 2 minutes ago no need to have the whole team looking me like I killed a person, or listening for the remaining time to some unrelated bulshit and as well text can be recalled and referenced ... heck see how many rants here are about people denying what they've said a few days ago....
