I started to work in the CreditCard / Bank business a year ago.
Now they stopped the hole server migration project, so I leave again. They could have had it all. Server 2016, SQL 2016, Citrix, Surface Books and so on.
But no, the new shitty projects are more important than security or on what technology the system is build on.

Seems like the FTP Server will run on Windows 2003 forever...

    Holy fuck... Windoozle Server 2003...
    Just 4 weeks ago I completed an AD migration from a 2003 to a new 2016 Server.
    How the fuck could anyone in their right mind stop such a migration? especially in the finance sector...
    What the fuck...

    @PonySlaystation finance sector, it says it all. Banks would love that it was 1995 forever. Where computers helped a bit doing their lucrative job without threating their century old business model. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    @PonySlaystation people who don't understand such problems, but that only looks on what he can obtaint for a given amount of money.

    "10000$ to improve security? Nah bruh, no need."
    "10000$ to make something that will not affect my work, but changes a minor change on the display? Sure, where can I sign?!"

    @taglia Yes well said!

    Evil is banal. We love our habits so much, our brain rewards us when we can switch to autopilot and follow procedures. And there is the desire of all of uus to be loved and appreciated. But in a big company where you are just a number on a list, appreciation is sparse and envy and revenge works as a substitute.
    And there is the greed, like VW who made the business decision it was more cost effective to cheat and pay compensation.

    So big companies are evil, not because they want it to be. But it's a consequence of the human nature.
    Evil is banal like using windows server 2003
