ymas4717yOne of the hardest parts about life is decisions. At this juncture, you have to make an executive decision that is in your benefit. Yes, your parents will be sad, however, they (like many parents) will want the best for you. You going into depression will break their hearts too. How long have you been on your course? What parts are you hating?

flimflam1387y@ymas I'm currently in my third year. I'm just not excited about analog electronics, electric circuit theory and electromagnetic fields. I like math though.

ymas4717y@flimflam my first suggestion would be to stop being critical of yourself and optimise your workflow to get the best possible grades, if it's just a pass on EM theory then so be it. Don't put the thought that you're "bad" in a topic because you're demotivating yourself. I recommend you get the book " Electronics A systems approach" by Neil Storey. Hopefully that will help you out. Feel free to get in touch over Wickr if you want to discuss further.

obia11157y@flimflam I studied electronic eningeering myself and hated it. My passion was more about computers and coding. Still finished a bachelor exam but never went further with a masters. My education still landed me in the computer industry and after self studies I know now work full time as a developer for a big company. You can rest assure that whatever programming you would learn in school, it would probably be outdated anyway. If you want my advice finish your degree, even if you hate it, because it will help you to get a job in the future. But learn programming on your own and follow you dreams!

tommy15Right now someone at Google is coding something useless for us to laugh at on April Fools.
Is it weird that I'm doing Electrical and Electronic Engineering but I HATE it and love programming? I know I should find a balance between the two but I just can't seem to. The worst part is that the syllabus hasn't been updated for eons so we are learning about outdated technologies. Ooh, and you can't declare majors until like the final year, I think. I could quit but it would break my parents' hearts, and we are not rich enough to afford a self-sponsored CS course. The worst part is that I'm not even a good programmer, I'm trying so hard to balance the two that I end up not being good at any.
