devRant should add a polls feature for simple questions with yes no answers or what version of linux people use etc maybe?

Displaying strawpolls in an iframe would be more than enough for me tbh

@sharktits please no. No. No. No. Noooo.
If we get it, then probably implemented please

I am not that surprised at the resounding no, sure it could stifle conversation but at the same time... Polls are fun to look at imo.

No, this would just make it even easier for people to ask stupid questions without "real" answers. Many things that people already ask around here are dependent on use case and everyone pitches in with their own opinion, many of which are well outside the scope of the question.

There would be too many posts for things like "what's the best adblocker?" "Which Linux distro should I use if I want to play Fallout 4?" "What computer should I get?" "Which JS framework sucks the most ass?"

I believe this is a place for devs who want to rant. Not for people to survey said devs.

I am reminded of the scene from "Truth or Dare," where Oliver, one of Madonna's dancers, is fluttering around her trying to explain a dance move as her makeup for a performance is being applied. She says, "Oliver, take a poll. And ram it up your @r$e." Just a random source of amusement; always has been.

I think polls would be a good thing but only if you had like 50k upvotes + you are a subscriber. This would stop a billion duplicate polls but opens up many possibilities for debate.
