A lot of companies were waiting until the last day before the GDPR deadline πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

Lol that's the latest trend. They are maybe afraid to be called in a senate hearing hehe

I have read both the GDPR and the national implementation of it -- and I have been reading every single policy I have received during the last month. I'm collecting all the points on which they are still violating the GDPR.

I have a list ready with 73 companies which I'll send to the privacy watchdog tomorrow. About 3 companies had a proper updated policy.

@Condor Officially you are required to ask consent for all cookies/trackers before placement. I think your consent window doesn't work optimally on mobile yet.

But the chance of you being fined is zero — The amount of data you have on users is fairly minimal, and you have clearly taken steps to protect that data.

The products which are in a lot of trouble are the apps which store continuous location data, webshops which recommend products based on ethnicity, marketing emails without unsubscribe links.

Products which are in a bit of trouble are the ones which implement Hotjar screen captures for product improvement without consent, or send personal data to Google Analytics.

The company I work for stores biometric data and passport copies, we track traffic flow using number plate recognition, and we detect gang meetup patterns for law enforcement using mobile phone triangulation. For us, database security is important, anonimization of aggregations is important, and we must have a data protection officer (me).

We now hash number plate registrations and only track cars for a day before assigning a new hash. We have moved all our data to the EU, as some of it was processed in the US and Russia. We have implemented strict access control on all our databases.

A blog which places a cookie without asking would technically violate the GDPR, but you would forever sit at the bottom of the priority list.
