because "hey, i wanna take a quick picture of this very fleeting moment with my camera-app, let's just download it ad-hoc over this very slow mobile connect..... oops, dead spot."
-
I don’t know if it’s trending, but it’s alive as ever, which cannot be said for most of the trendy crap in the web world.
Some (not all) things are just better as an app.
Not everything needs to be a crappy online web app. -
@tosensei one of the advantages of apps is that you don‘t need to download them every time that you need them. If it‘s something like a camera app, you can even use it without an internet connection.
Edit: I might have missed your point that you agree with me :) -
@Lensflare I hate apps in browsers with a passion. I see these pushed at phone users when searching for things.
Another thing I hate is apps on phones for the most part. They all want to sell you features you get for free on desktop. If I can't do it for free on my phone then I am using the desktop.
Now fucking motorola shipped with the default weather app having ads. FUCK YOU MOTOROLA! So I uninstall this shitty app (it let me) and there is magically another weather app with no ads. I would rather do stuff on desktop because of this bullshit. -
CoreFusionX374523hWell in today's world it's all the same.
I mean, the majority of apps are just webviews or abominations like react native in mobile, or electron in desktop.
Also so many companies use web mobile apps just to circumvent ad blockers and/or browser anti tracking measures. -
lorentz1580314h@Lensflare That was never needed for webapps. The legacy solution is HTTP caching headers with a really long TTL, the modern* solution is a caching service worker.

lorentz1580314hThe real reason is that Apple is deliberately breaking basic web functionality constantly specifically to force developers into the app store while making a potential antitrust lawsuit as complicated and unpredictable as possible.

Lensflare2018212h@lorentz yeah I know. There is also PWA, which allows to make web apps completely offline, but OP was talking about cloud based platforms which implies online apps which don‘t work offline.
Is Mobile Application development still trending? Why are you not using cloud based platforms Why do you have to download the APKs and keep bursting your storage ?, by using it, you get an instant preview of your app in the browser.I wanna know the reality! But instead you go for cheaposss like diawi, Like whyyy ? ?????
