So what if they do? If doesn't mean git will go away. When Disney bought Pixar, we weren't restricted from using Photoshop anymore. Git is just a tool used by gitlab and GitHub.

Gitlab is not just as a git server though, it's also a scrum/agile management tool (issues, tasks, points, burndowns), a CI/CD pipeline (unit tests, staged container deploys, stakeholder approval gates) documentation center (wikis & snippets) and devops framework (jobs, queues, docker/kubernetes monitoring)

Would suck if you had to migrate your whole setup to Bitbucket (the only other fully integrated platform).
