Is that how many devices have the latest version? Why don't we compare that with the amount of phone models
-
Let's be honest most people fall for that
And ya they must do what @Code-Junkie said, let's see how that goes
At least they should compare with pixel phones and not all Android phones -
C0D4682116y@Code-Junkie but what percentage is kept up to date?
I think besides apple being apple and trying to shit on Android here, they have a point that their phones do have a large os adoption rate per version rather than 1000’s of phones running 100’s of versions of the same os and probably a small percentage are at the latest versions. -
@C0D4 it's apples and oranges 😂 if apple let other companies use their software on custom hardware it would be the same story
-
Currently an iPhone user, but was previously an android user and yeah... This doesn’t account for the devices that haven’t upgraded their OS in years (which doesn’t degrade android devices...), nor the devices that may not be running official Android firmware
-
In few years treble will change that, given that existing userbase upgrades to new phones
-
curlyDev4726yWell they have a point.
Their phones will be last version always(last year 4s thats like 7 years old still got updated). My lg g3 is dead in the waters because snapdragon said :"sorry not sorry dropped support".
Good job now i am stuck with apps that will perform worse and worse since no one will care about backwards compatibilty.
Lg g3 stopped updating at 3 old... Tells a lot. -
@arjaycodes yeah its really good, but still we need to have users upgrading to treble devices(aka phones which runs 8.0 out of box)
-
theruffus676y@Artemix Backwards compatibility like making sure the newest OS is supported by 5 years of older devices (like iOS 12 on iPhone 5S)?
Show me an Android phone from 5 years ago getting Oreo update... mute point. -
theruffus676yOut of context...
The graph shows how many users have newest version of given operating system installed...
Stop spreading misinformation, hate wars are for kids... and console players :P -
bahua129076yIt's actually pretty shameful that only 81% of Apple's devices are running the newest OS version, as they 100% control their hardware. It means that they're gating the newest features so that only people with the newest phones get them.
