Clients who keep calling in.

I'm a first liner and sysadmin, both (official title is Linux support engineer) so I do tickets+calls+server engineering.

It's highly annoying when you've got a busy day with loads of calls and I'm the first first-liner and I'm working on an important/high-prio ticket and PEOPLE KEEP CALLING.

Every time I can write like a few more words and then the fucking phone rings again aaaand so fucking on.

Your concentration is gone, workflow interrupted and my short term memory is shit so I entirely forget what I was debugging.

But, phone comes first 😞

Are a lot of the calls legitimate issues or people being dumbasses and not following simple directions?

That sucks so much. I had a job doing Apple warranty repair that had me doubling as customer service at the front desk. Essentially Apple Genius + Apple Technician for a third party repair AASP.

Nothing’s worse than doing technical troubleshooting and being pulled out front every 5 minutes for “Excuse me?? My email won’t work see because blah blah blah and fix it now because I’m important”

Should tell your boss not having a proper support line with a helpdesk is preventing you from getting your real work done...

That sounds very counter-productive... Or maybe you're just doing too good for the company so they're not realising that they're short-staffed.
