Google has always been pretty clear that they collect data to serve people better ads.

jeeper58106y@Skriptkiddy I think the counter was really updated by some script or service and if some drives failed it would go down.

jeeper58106y@Skriptkiddy that definitely affected it but how much space can one user use? A mb? A drive failure could wipe out a few hundred gb and a server failure a few thousand in a second.
