As much as I love Linux, it just sucks to use its GUI for development.

Maybe I'm just using the wrong distro, anyone knows something better than Ubuntu for Web dev?

    *Arch Linux*
Most people of devRant talk about that. I don't know in detail.

It's a bit unclear what the actual problem is but as far as the gui goes you just have to find something you're comfortable with. There are different desktop environments you can use on top of your distro (ex. GNOME, KDE, etc. ) and then of course you need to find the software you're comfortable with. Personally I mostly swap between the terminal and vs code. I have a shortcut key to hide/show the terminal on the right side of my screen.

@ch0s3n Well I love Ubuntu when everything works but...

    Get Cinnamon.
    Fast, snappy, looks good.

I'm in love with GNOME, also for webdev.

If you setup good keyboard shortcuts and use extensions like Dash To Dock it's extremely productive.

Things like making every window fullscreen, creating a dynamic amount of virtual desktop, having an extremely tidy desktop while still being able to find anything with one keystroke makes GNOME my shell for everything.

But still, you should just look what suits your workflow as I bet many will hate me for choosing GNOME.

Manjaro with i3 gaps here. Ram usage is under 300MB on boot. 😁

I do backend dev work and it's worked fine for me.

Use XFCE is enough. Xubuntu etc. That DE doesn't get in your way if that is what you want.

Do you have a link that won't add "DOWNLOADED FROM DEVRANT.COM" at the bottom? Collecting pictures of cute anime girls is one of my hobbies.

I mean... I'm asking for a friend... Yeah...

@Condor Is that high-res? It doesn't look like it.
