ddephor45116yI hate it too, when I get a 7z file. Because I need some extra software for it.
Why not use a standard zip file, what's the benefit of 7zip?
Any system I know can handle zip files with the default installation. -
@ddephor Better compression, free .rar support, faster than most other systems at decompression of .zip files...
What's not to like? -
ddephor45116y@powerfulparadox What are we talking about? Saving 20ms on decompressing, 2% less filesize?
I'd prefer interoperability. Even a gzipped tarball is more interoperable than 7zip. -
@GMR516 Nothing in particular. My rage is more that they flat out say "we dont know what this is" instead of "urg, can you send standard *.zip next time". All in all 7zip is superior but for my use case any given archive type was sufficient.

its not they dont know what it is, more like security policies and probably auto-deleting of non standard attachment files.
