Not just you. My colleague did a reboot to clear a load of invisible Excel processes and when it restarted they were all still there in Task Manager.

No! Not previous tabs! It was just there. Facing me without any fear. It was ready to fight with me. Staring into my eyes, coldly, as if I'd attempted it's murder. An awkward encounter. -

Shutting down Windows instead of putting it into sleep should not save state. It did, in my case.
I had Chrome opened before shutting down. It's still there.
This is very nice fail-safe method, I must say.
