Shutting down Windows instead of putting it into sleep should not save state. It did, in my case.

I had Chrome opened before shutting down. It's still there.

This is very nice fail-safe method, I must say.

    I don't think so. Is it? Shouldn't SHUT DOWN force-close all the things and turn off the computer?

    @Cyanide plug your RAM to mains after each shutdown to ensure that all data is overwritten

    Dude! Just talking about software here. Don't tell me to explore the hardware heaven. I not ready for it.

    Not just you. My colleague did a reboot to clear a load of invisible Excel processes and when it restarted they were all still there in Task Manager.

    No! Not previous tabs! It was just there. Facing me without any fear. It was ready to fight with me. Staring into my eyes, coldly, as if I'd attempted it's murder. An awkward encounter.

    I've noticed the same on some of my company's computers, that's a mind blower for sure..

    Windows 10 doesn't really "shut down" computers so it can boot them faster.
