As one who is interested in Korean, but hasn't taken the time to learn it yet; what is the difference between 남한 and 대한민국?
-
Okay, so according to Google Translate:
남한 is pronounced "namhan" and means "South Korea"
대한민국 is pronounced "daehanmingug" and means "Republic of Korea"
I can Google. -
@Haxk20 I actually think South Korea is much better place to live then EU and definitely US...
-
@illegaldisease Maybe.... But hey! We have one of the best airports in the world! ( : Useless)
-
@CozyPlanes Still the leading country in technology and league of legends :D
Also you have one of the best languages, soooooo :)) -
@illegaldisease best language, uhh
CJK characters takes up 2bytes, which is still unsupported in github and partial support in sublime -
@CozyPlanes Well, technology support is out of argument, since it adds no value to the language itself.
I know your pain, since the characters which the country i live in uses would not correctly supported pre UTF era. Again, that is not what i am talking about :)
I am talking about Korean itself. It is one of the easiest and most spot on language i have ever seen, even thou i don't know it properly. Sejong the Great was really great, it seems. -
@illegaldisease I just had to say that 2byte problem even though it has no relationships with the language's value, just my personal frustrations.
and what is your language that wasn't supported well?
And yeah, many say Korean is easy to learn, but as a native, I don't really find out why, but if foreigners think so, and it is easy for them, well it is hell easy yes!
Also, surprised to see a foreigner know the history of Korean, some knows, some doesn't, so thanks for taking interest in another country's language! May I ask how you knew it? -
@CozyPlanes I am from Turkey, i am sure that rings a bell :) When i was a teenager, i played an MMORPG game which is only open to Koreans, i was always snatching KSSN numbers to log in, sorry about that :( i played in it until they needed a fully valid KSSN number plus verified korean phone number.
When i was playing the game, i learned to write and understand Korean a littlr since i needed party and stuff. We talked mostly in English but some people were persistant to speak Korean. That's when i took interest in Korea as whole. They helped me a lot, made good friends :)
But if i didn't know that you were developer, i would be surprised about your English being really good :)
