I feel you...
My nephew is almost 9, smart as his father (If I think I'm smart, my brother is a genius) ... But both parents and grandparents let them do what they want...
Not me...
If he wants something from me he as to work for it.
If he wants me to make him a new toy, he must be there with me learning...
When I did him a crossbow (my first DIY only with vacation items plus hot glue, went terribly wrong) he was helping me... and learning about the middle ages, the difference from bows and crossbows, stuff like that...
And he always learns when he wants to... I just make him want to learn...
I'm the only one who says no and makes him think, and he has a great memory .... Want to teach Greek mythology? the kid loves DC and Marvel comics. Mathematics? make it a game... Memory improvement? made him a game out of LEDs and wires, he had to guess the color right for all the pins. Well, not even I got it right, and he did it in the first attempt...
Just wishing for a girl to have my kid. -
mngr9196yYou told him wrong!!!
does he want to make game? Give him a little game to do.
he doesn't know how to code? Show him scratch.
you want to bring him to the next level? Give him a task that requires googling as solution, show him how simple googling is
try to come up with interesting target, and then it is his part to develop them and develop more for his own fun!
we are playful animals, learning is a game, not staying in front of youtube and watching videos, a game that everyone have to enjoy playing -
Laziness will only destroy his planned career.
"Im only 16"
Well, I'm 15 and do know my stuff.
I sat down and learned it by myself. -
Astatos2656yI find it very worrying, how small effort the average young person (>= 18) wants to put into something to succeed...
From nothing comes nothing. -
Bubbles66126ySadly that's how the kids are now a days and it saddens me because they expect to get handed everything
