I just finished setting up an instance of searx.me for the public to use.

You are free to use it at https://search.privacy-cloud.me

I can't prove it but I've disabled logging with searx and ip logging in the nginx access logs (catching ddos's another way). If you don't find that enough proof then I suggest you don't use it :)

Let's go to sleep now.

    Hey linuxxx, just as a quick update on my little phone situation :P

    I somehow managed to lose the package with the SIM card adapter so I will have to buy them somewhere else. Hopefully I can at least use Signal again in a few days.

    On a side note: I haven't used a smartphone in 3 weeks now and to be honest I don't really miss it and I haven't been in any situation where I'd have needed one. :D

    Also: Did you add glasses to your avatar?

    wasn't the idea of searx and alternative search engines for everybody to host his own instance, to not have somebody else have even the possibility of data control / tracking toggle etc?

    @404response Ouch and good and yes!

    @JoshBent Yup. But there are many people who setup a public instance :)

    @Brosyl Well, searx strips all the identifiable information before forwarding so can't really lead it back as far as I know

    @linuxxx I get the whole public service idea, it's just weird how something that should be selfhost for the security benefit - is made public 😅 btw does it have its own crawler on each selfhost instance? and how large is the dataset after some while, also how do you handle search results that are e.g. illegal?

    @Brosyl Yup.
    @JoshBent there's literally a list of instances ran by volunteers and I don't keep any logs so I can't give shit.
