the question is moot.
because if such a mind-boggling scifi superweapon would exist, "they" would already use it to make you do whatever they want. for example by making you feel really, really good about the technology. or by making you feel really, really dead for not liking the technology. -
If we had magic then I'd be a magician. What we actually have (and will ever actually have) is technology, which has expensive and time-consuming infrastructure requirements and all kinds of inconvenient limitations, and can be stolen through industrial espionage. "they" won't be sitting on their precious technology long until a competing nation state steals it like they did the atomic bomb, the PCB, and the scramjet.

To an extent they can do that already. Do the funny chicken dance or else...
But for it to be a snap of the finger possibility, I'd expect it to be in our lifetime or soon afterwards. Look at Neuralink, once that goes fully both ways, e.g. you can walk in the virtual world the same as the real world, but your body doesn't move, this will would be a trivial display. Heck jobs will probably change even more, "you" don't work any more companies just rent your body -
there's a joke on here I could be making by understanding why people want mind control cuz nobody actually answered the question 😁
programmers. always stuck on the technical details! -
@jestdotty Well that's the easy thing, why do you want mind control, well, it's in the name control. I don't really want it since it will guaranteed be used for dystopian shit, but there can be arguments for good as well, imagine just no longer having addiction with the press of a button for example
if you learned the government or some corporation can influence anyone into any cognitive state, emotion, or debilitating state like puking or death
and it's like effective, like a magic trick. people come in, and entirely get amnesia on command like it's a scene from the movie men in black. they want you to do the chicken dance they're making 30 people from the crowd do the chicken dance and everybody is laughing and having a great time at this demo conference
would you allow it? or would you be mad and start trying to protest its use?
