I honestly don't care I need the money, plus manual testing doesn't usually strain me.

>Call them
>...Sorry we were looking for someone with less technical and dev experience.

    When they say you're overqualified it just means they're underpaying and don't want to pay what you're worth.

    I feel they should not be hated for underpaying. They know how much they can spend on a resource, and they know you are worth more than that, they value your abilities and hence they don't select you. To me, it is fair.

    What's not fair was keeping you on the hook for a month. Scold them for that.

    Don’t let it get you down. Apply to 10 more! Eventually you’ll have interview with someone smart enough to leverage your talent.
