Can’t say there’s a finite number of years, but when you stop asking the same questions repeatedly and start working things out for yourself, your on the right track.

To earn the ‘Junior’ title you need a developer father with the same name as you.

Then you’re born ‘Junior’

1 to 2 years full time development, I would say. But it heavily depends on a multitude of things, like your ability to work autonomously, how much time you spend learning in your free time, which knowledge and skilllevel you have when you start, and of course the company culture you are in...

When you are ready to build a complete system by yourself.
Beginning from analysis to delivery.

Trust me it had never been based on years it's based on your skills so congrats if you can achieve it in 1 or 2 years else you have something missing you must work on.

Struggle with the same thing at my job. I wonder how long will some of our Juniors be okay with being called Junior.

I have seen Juniors with 1 year who are better than Seniors and vice versa.

I think it is attitude based. If you can be put in front of a client and handle yourself well and impress a client ... say goodbye to the Junior title and start demanding a salary that reflects that.

@lewdogg I was waiting for a reply like this, because I'm not going to say I'm the Da Vinci of development but I've worked on a good amount of projects and some people with Senior in their title asks me for assistance with shit >.< , Yet companies still want to say I don't have enough experience just based on the duration of time instead.

That's why I made a rant where I asked what's the most important things I should know, cause sometimes I feel like I'm crazy
