Is that fake news or something? And if lots of oxygen was lost, the lays don't contribute to it, only to the pressure (they have nitrogen gas not oxygen). "it also evoked a sigh of relief from anxious passengers" So half dead, "156 passengers ... breathless" with no oxygen, somehow replenished the oxygen with the nitrogen from the lays?
