    I started my business with my first client. It was a cousin of my wife wanting a website. Then I started offering work on freelancer.com. You can use upwork.com too.

    How experienced are you? are you offering fair prices for both? are you just spamming offers or making it for each maybe even telling why they should pick you to improve or trust with their system?

    @Stuxnet Thanks 😊

    @JoshBent no, I am not spamming. Sending them request with lower bids.

    @canonbolt lowbidding can also be a sign of lower quality work to a client, especially if he is ready to pay X and has paid Y in the past, but you offer less

    @JoshBent this is really confusing me, so I should not send lower bid even if I don't have any previous work?

    @canonbolt not much lower, because clients get scared that you might be one of those poor quality freelancers that they get spammed with, you could also just do lower price jobs first, like doing only a small landing page etc. to get yourself some good reviews - things that you know you can do while asleep, yet not lose any money yourself.

    Thanks, one more question - what do you write in description while placing bids??

    @Wombat if you live in Western countries, your living costs are so high that you will never be able to compete against the dirt cheap offers from India on such platforms.

    @Fast-Nop that's true. But I had luck.

    Not my free lancer anymore. But during my short stint, I joined a Facebook group going by the name 'Delhi Startup Network', and got an Android Dev project from there.

    1) I made connection with local printing agency where many business people come to print their logo,visiting cards other priting stuff. I gave comission to that agency. If I get contract from client they forworded.

    2) my team developed ERP software for small shop's. SO I contact on field sales boys. Who visited business people for their official work. Even they gave me good clients.

    First project (free) : my friend's father's website.

    first project(paid) : mall management software for MTech student.

    I have not tried online market yet. My company will registered in feb then I will try it.

    best of luck

    be shameless ,ask every one, try to gave free stuff ,once your portfolio become strong then you can earn lot of money.

    @canonbolt you should've tagged me, I by accident saw you commented more - I try to tell why I am useful, what could be improved, show I have reviewed the given information etc. basically try imagining yourself as the client, what would you want to get presented, some idiot telling he's worked 15 years or somebody actually addressing issues, improvements etc :)
