@Stuxnet oddly enough, I found the wallpaper by searching "google wallpaper" on google image search xD

LuxARTS16636yI was working in something similar a few years ago. I was using 4 displays and each one render a 3D model with 90 degrees from each other. Was a cool 3D viewer for STL files but didn't find any real application where it can be useful.
-
@LuxARTS I'm currently using it with Unity3D and I'm more focused on the interactivity applications this type of tech can offer. I cant seem to find many gaming applications for this and I'm not sure why xD I've already been able to move around objects within the pyramid space using my kbd, so it seems promising :)

LuxARTS16636y@konicm8ker In my case I use a custom panel to rotate and scale the object (like a pseudo zoom), similar to you with the keyboard
-
@LuxARTS yeah interactivity is the only thing i can see being pretty cool with this. You can only watch so many 3D objects spin around or scale up and down. Granted, it is just a pepper's ghost effect but still a great "hologram" illusion, especially if interactive imo.

@konicm8ker @LuxARTS you have to click the gif for it to play. Probably some epilepsy bomb prevention code.

Pyrmoids are shit! Used to use them all the time at the AV company I worked for.

@EV-EV Its more of a DIY. Theres just a standard monitor I mounted in a wooden box facing down on this pyramid I cut out of thin plexiglass.
-
@pretzlerich It does have its limitations, but I wouldnt say its shit. I guess it depends on what you're doing with it. I still find it to be a neat effect, even if it has been around since the 19th century xD

@heyheni pyramids are limited because of the viewpoint angle you seem to have. As soon as you're between triangles it seems to break the illusion. It also depends what the 4 camera sides are displaying, whether it's each side of a 3D object or the same front side on each side being displayed. It also could be changed based on you're viewing point. For example, the bottom of display could be in the center of the pyramid or the very bottom depending on you're eye level. Also what you see is a reflection, so naturally you'd want to flip things horizontally if you want to read text normally and such. These would be the limitations of the peppers ghost effect and I'm sure there's more. Sphere's would be cool, though It would have to use some other method like lazers and stuff xD
Working on something awesome :)
