Today's project, turning my diy convencional milling machine into automátic.
Status: it works.
Features: motors are to slow.
Solution: need better motors.

Ok, this is a drill with gears, can go up to 3000rpm. For the axis I got an XY manual table, coupled it to the drill. Now I added the small motors, an Arduino and joystick to control the direction.

@segfault0xff The drill rpm isn't that great but it««s ok, but the X and Y steppers are very slow, the table moves very slowly

What are you using for moving the spindle (up-down)?

For a machine of that size you need steppers that are bigger tan nema 30 for sure... the cutting force is going to be huge, so without proper motors you wont cut anything

@Gregozor2121 not using anything for Z.... It isn't a cnc yet.
I still have to handle it by hand.
The motors are to help moving the table at a constant speed and also make a clean cut.
For cutting the speed is good, but to position it sucks...
