I have made this RGB LED tie. One of my friends and me had the idea at 2 am and now it has come to reality :D

It runs on an Arduino nano, 8 rgb leds and is powered by a 9V battery.

I have prom tomorrow ('abschlussball' in german) I probably won't wear it during the official part but definitely at the party after prom.

The current animation is a bit too fast (I was listening to hardstyle while coding it) for the music they will play tomorrow at the party so I still have to make a slower one.

Tell me what you think about it :P

    @Archang3l haha, yeah that was it :P

    @J-2FA thank you, I also learned soldering along the way

    Awesome!! If you still have time it could be cool to get sound input and match the music:)

    @MisterArie yeah that's definitely something I want to add later

    @J-2FA holy crap xD

    That's pretty damn cool! :)

    (The only thing that'd irritate me personally would be the cable management for the battery cables. You could put some shrinking tube over them to keep them closer together.
    Also, Congratulations on having finished school. :) )

    @nin0x03 thank you :) I have used laces to bring the cables closer together

    Sadly I haven't finished school yet, still 2 years left. I don't understand why we have prom now and not when we actually have finished school

    @404response Have you considered conductive threads? Not the most practical but seamless.

    Geil :)

    @HalfBloodPrince I hope you're not Dutch xD

    You gonna be the life of the party. Let us hope that nobody thinks that you are a printer repairman.

    You should have it show how much energy you have left in the day before you need to sleep.

    @dder why do I have to laugh? :D

    @404response Did kinda the same thing multiple times. Doing stuff while listening to hardstyle (see 'kopfkrank Synapsen terror' at YouTube) make things sooo fucking faster :D
    I normally do not listen to music like this, but sometimes ... :P

    @Rohr well... do i really need to answer?
    I mean... we did this as well!

    @404response great work!

    If you want chicks to blow your way add a breathalyzer and indicate how waisted they are with LEDs on the tie 😎

    @404response
    (Whaaat? Prom is no longer at the end of one's school time? Oh no, WTF. Oo)

    @hjk101 I can't get the parts for that anymore in time but that kinda sounds cool

    @nin0x03 I think it's just the schools here in my area
  • 3
    @MisterArie no I'm not lol :) but similar languages though Dutch and German

    @HalfBloodPrince I was hoping you were german. Geil means horney in Dutch.
  • 2
    @MisterArie well, if you translate the word geil it also means horney in german but germans kind of use it instead of amazing or awesome for pretty much everything :)
  • 0
    @HalfBloodPrince I did not know that :)
  • 2
    @MisterArie now you know :) but don't say that to a german girl you're geil :))
  • 2
    @HalfBloodPrince it depends on the situation :P

    @MisterArie This has already been archieved by a electronics parts seller named adafruit. Which made a tutorial about how to make one.

    @404response I don't know where you live but at my school prom is in year 10 too

    You should wear a tuxedo shirt and replace the buttons with LEDs

    I have to this something like this (probably with EGB led strips and like 1/4 of the leds)

    Starting to learn Arduino :p Good to see I'm not the only one arround here who's interested
