How many people on devRant are skilled with pentesting / Offensive Security? How long did it take you to understand it? How do you keep yourself from crossing over white hat territory into grey hat territory?

Man I currently have a burning hot passionate desire for physics. It actually gets me so damn excited. I mean it is basically damn magic ya know. But then I have a passionate desire for programming and that gets me excited. And then I have a burning desire for Math and that gets me excited as well. But I don't know what to push my life towards because I want to focus more on my ultimate goal. It's like having to choose between 3 amazing girls(not that I would know how that feels)

Any tips for attending my first hackathon? Keep in my mind I am not too well versed in applications with JS/Python. Also I really don't have a lot of real life project experience. I am super excited though.

So I've been thinking about how to get people in my high school to join a team that I am creating for MLH. I also need to figure out how to plan and host the hackathon as well as fundraise for it. I'm trying to get all of this done be March of next year so that everything runs smoothly(hopefully). My school district is full or super rich kiddos so fundraising should be easy. Anyways do you guys have any tips for trying to get people into a team and organizing/fundraising for a hackathon?

Oh my god. I woke up and read stan lee was rushed to the hospital. I was actually feeling horribly sad and then I read that he was in stable condition and was like heck yeah!!! No one taking him yet.

A burden has been lifted off of me. The burden of social media. I hate it with every ounce of my soul(except twitter and devRant). The amount of time wasted it is unreal. Deleted my instagram last night and my snapchat this morning. It feels so good!!!!! Sure my classmates think I'm crazy but it is worth it. No negativity more time to focus, work and game. I think it is a huge win.

2007. I was four. We had a dell pc as the family computer. My dad and mom borh had laptops for themselves and their work. It ran windows xp I think and I used it to cartoonnetwork.com and play games on it. We still have the PC so that is cool. The first time I programmed though was 5 years later on my dad's laptop when he started teaching me c#.

Man I feel sort of stupid. OK so I have a python script that needs to be kept running 24/7 but my laptop's screen cant be on 24/7 and locks. How do I make sure my python script comtimues to run? It is an ubuntu machine btw.

Ok I have been incredibly offended. So a classmate asked if I wanted to be a computer repairman when I grew up I yelled hell no and shes like but what will you do then with that useless knowledge? I just looked at her. But wait, there's more. My teacher took me to the principal for having my terminal open in linux. I then got yelled at for "hacking" and it took me forever to try and explain I wasn't but they didnt believe me. So I got yelled at for half an hour before school ended.

Gahhhh!!!! I just finished a project that let every kid in my school have a perfect class scheduler, gradebook, etc., in java. Now I have no idea what to do. I want to do something in java because I want to have a very strong base in the language. Do you guys have any ideas?

Ok Devrant I have a problem. Ubuntu 17.10 is stuck in a login loop. I dont have any graphics drivers installed and I dont know what to do. The rest of the internet has been of no help. So anybody have any ideas?

Freaking out!!! I am trying to stuff as many AP courses as I can into my schedule. I can handle it but I can't take everything I want!! I also have to make some great projects so that I can put it on my github and feel like a Real Dev, and I have to study for my SATs. And then I have to apply to college. In 2.5 years.
Yay!! Which means I have to go to sleep at 12 wake up at 4(Which for dev standards is a lot of sleep). Which means I have to zombie through school. Going to be a great 3 years folks.

From personal experience what laptop would you recommend for developing?(No macs)

1. Learn Kotlin
2. Actually sit down and push through machine learning.
3. Finish integral calculus and start multivariable calc.
4. Work on 1 project until completion.
5. Socialize a bit more.
6. Obliterate bugs.
