Just to add: ClamAV/ClamWin isn't the most reliable.

I'm using portable Anti-virus and anti-malware to scan my computer... Clam is one of them. I have Avira installed.

Seriously though, I haven't had a virus attack in ages, though I do scan with Bitdefender at regular intervals. Good habits are almost as effective as a strong antivirus.

I have no idea where did you got that av... I never heard of that.

Use malvarebytes. It is free and has one of the best scanners (free bitdef or kaspersky is good too if you have powerful pc)

antivirus programs are scams

Antiviruses detect other antiviruses, that doent use the same engine and clamav is known for false-positives, so this is no special case actually ^^

AV is essentially non malicious malware:
- reads files that don't belong to it
- kills processes it doesn't own
- deletes and moves files it didn't create

Most AV would probably detect itself. But that's dumb, so it's added onto it's whitelist. But it knows not of OTHER antivirus programs.

Why not? Sure reading the code you would think "now I know how my signatures are written. I can just rewrite to avoid! Muhahaha" in reality this is true ish, but it also means your detection sucks. AV should be like crypto, you can read the code, but security is still inevitable.

ClamWin doesn't even fucking remove things for you, so...
