sooo I've been hanging around devrant for a while, and well..... it's been obvious af that Javascript has been getting a lot of hate lol. so I was wounding if somebooday could enlighten me with a "why". y u do dis ppl?

Programmers are very passionate about their tools. What they like and they dislike. Someone might like Django, someone will absolutely abhor it. Some will enjoy Java, some will detest everything it stands for.

Sometimes it is for the smallest things. I cannot find a technology that is 100% hate free. Javascript is no exception. Sure it has its quirks, but just like any other tech stack if you know what you are doing you can overcome it.

Me? I love JS, admire the community and think that Ryan Dhal is one of the most important software developers of our time. I really enjoy Node and how it has changed the way we develop both frontend and backend, but I do not force this solution on everything I do. Sometimes php is a better option, others is Java, other is C# or Ruby, maybe Python or even Perl.

I enjoy learning all I can. This is to me what makes computer science so appealing.

And all of this is a lot....a...lot...of fun.

JS is just “popular” but with all “popular” things someone will hate it for some stupid reason.

@snaz doesn't every programming language have some stupid stuff like this? as illustrated at the beginning of the vid ruby has some. so why all the hate on js?
