Work your ass off for a month, packaging new software and deploying them. No one says anything.

One of our guys uploads a new autoupdating food menu provided by another company to our intranet. Takes a few minutes.
”OMG! You should be rewarded!”
”Employee of the month!”
”IT award of the month!
”Have my babies!”

But isn't that what you're supposed to do?

I worked my tush off for a month and got three months' work complete and released.

    Praise? Maybe?
    No.

Instead, I got yelled at for not also doing someone else's job. (Which I didn't even have access to, let alone the time to learn and do it, but never-you-mind that)

@Root I'll praise ya. Aww, you did an awesome job. *Flies away*

    It's called working smart.

@davenall There are various people with various needs. If someone needs constant praise and rewards for doing his or her job, but they do the job amazingly well, you'd be stupid not to give them the praise coz otherwise, they'll leave. Stop with these blanket statements, like 'you get paid; shut up and do your work'. You work with humans, not robots; act like it.

@davenall oh god, you’re acting as if there are a ton of skilled devs outside, looking for jobs and desperate. Good luck, I know with a 100% certainty that I’d never work/with for you, and definitely not because I need praise.
