baewulf19445yLinnix
Although whoever said “Linus” but with an x now is changing my mind, that’s probably the “correct” pronunciation -
cherkie5285yYeah Polish pronounciation is Linuks which sounds like that: lɪnəks
Honestly that old English fart saying lineaxe (which he also repeated 3 times) and saying so in an impertinent tone trying to correct me threw me off.
And most he does on his MacBook is ringing my extension asking me to fix it. -
Jilano273045y@irene "I'm sorry to tell you that, but your mother and I lied to you since your birth. You're actually German, son."
-
Condor328945y/'lɪ.nəks/ according to Wikipedia.. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipe... is how Linus Torvalds pronounces it apparently.
Personally I tend to say it as Linnucks, but it seems like my pronunciation is wrong :/ -
Jilano273045y@rEaL-jAsE He's your neighbour, mate!
@Ahzed11 Thought about that too, but since I'm not proficient in the phonetic alphabet, I have no idea.
Edit: It's apparently like this: \li.nyks\(in French, mind you)
For the English speakers, you have to pronounce the "U" like in "du". Remember the "omelette du fromage"? Same thing. -
cyclic3415yI think that Linus said that both are valid, probably to prevent yet another open source software war.
