    @davenall aren't those called beats, from oscillations created at the frequency of the difference between two waves? That's how instrument tuning works too.

    As far as I know timbre is the spectral content of the sound, it's what allows you to distinguish, say, a piano and a guitar playing the same note at the same volume.

    Sorry for nitpicking, but yeah.
