    me: I'll just take a nap :p
  • 35
    I'm 15 and already at 5 hours .
    Should I be worried?
  • 33
@PrivateGER enjoy your time when you can sleep as much as you can, you’re not getting it later
  • 13
@PrivateGER Definitely. You need to get more rest and sleep for us that can't.

@devTea Don't you think we'll be able to sleep on the job when we won't be able to retire at 70? :o
  • 14
I used to go to school without sleeping when I was 16
  • 26
    @hell

    Sounds like hell
  • 13
22: what is sleep and have you seen my coffee?
  • 17
Developer, age 25+ : Don't worry! I slept ... uhm ... last month or so.
  • 8
Or just take sleep if you want. Every night I get 8 hours of sleep. In the weekends more.
  • 8
Honestly I would like to know my sleep debt as a statistic! And then just sleep for 4 days in a row, to recover
  • 9
@Viewholder You mean "4 years", right?
  • 3
@Jilano yeah you are right! I was thinking that I have to eat too! 😛
  • 1
Me: crap, 1 hr is fine..ehh, what is sleep?
  • 3
    😂
So... About my pre and post lunch naps... Should I feel guilty about them!?
  • 9
    @PrivateGER

    I made the same thing...

15 and no sleep. I was proud when I got more then 5 hours of sleep...

    Trust me it's not healthy.

I am 18 and now always trying to go to bed early enough that I get around 7 hours sleep but the last 4 months I was proud to get 5 hours...

You really feel the difference if you get enough sleep.

I often missed my train stations last week, so this week I decided to stop coding the whole night to get sleep and man... I feel alive again. No longer a zombie.

But I also know that this will not last long enough and I need to force myself to get enough sleep.

@git-fuckyou Glad you're trying to discipline yourself! By the way, you might already know that, but eating earlier (6.30pm/7pm) can help too.

    @Jilano

I get up at around 5:30 am, take the bus at 6 am, arrive at work at 8:15 am, work till 11:30am, 30minute break, leave work at 5:15 pm (4x30min more, so I can leave Friday 2hours earlyer) and arrive at home at 7:50 pm

I'm living in a small village and the public transport is shit
  • 3
@PrivateGER Yes. You must take better care of yourself. With age it will be harder to break out of the loop and lack of sleep will exaust you more.

  • 2
@git-fuckyou That sounds insane, mate. Any other way to get to work? Car? Bike? Anything?

Anyway, good luck and hope your situation will improve soon.
  • 3
@Jilano In around 1 month I have my driving license and then it's just a 45min drive to work.
  • 1
    I feel attacked
  • 2
  • 2
Also do not know about you guys, but to me 3 hours of sleep are actually better than 4! Fucking sleep cycles man..
  • 1
@git-fuckyou no matter whether I use public transport or drive by car. I need 2-2.5 hours per tour.
By car would be more expensive and I couldn't work on my FOSS projects.
  • 2
    @Yamakuzure
yeah I use bus and train time for this too
  • 2
30+ and remote: fuck it, I have no meetings today
  • 2
21+n: Fuck it, I'll sleep after work
  • 3
@Observable totally agree, work will never end, but your life will, so take care of your body

Edit: Being lazy and just want to sleep around is different story thought
  • 2
It's currently 1:37am, I have school at 8. Only 5 1/2 hours until I have to leave the house. Who needs sleep anyways?
  • 1
@git-fuckyou I used to have this same issue, as I live in a crap city ( few neighborhoods that a good and extremely expensive, the rest is just garbage).

Now I am living near the subway and I can get to work in about 1h, 1h30 top. But something even better happened: I am working from home.

I have more time to exercise, to study and to my daughter, but I still do not sleep as much as I would like.
  • 2
In my case: 15, about 8 hours of sleep. I am willing to do whatever it takes to get some sleep. While I'm awake, I just want to sleep, but when I go to sleep I just want to be up.
I just want to shoot the guy who planned the school schedule this year.
  • 2
I'm 18: I'm already at 2 or no hours a night occasionally, usually about 6 hours though
  • 2
I needed to wake up for high school at 5am, and often went to sleep at 1am, so..
  • 3
    So true...

    P.S. Try polyphasic sleeping.
  • 1
  • 3
@SukMikeHok Its sleeping more than once a day but for shorter amounts each time. People are mostly monophasic, they sleep once at night. One kind of polyphasic sleep schedule is called Uberman in which you sleep for six 20-minute naps, every 4 hours; so in total it's only 2 hours of sleep everyday.

16 and I get 3 hours. U have constant pain in my teeth from braces that I had. This has on for 1,5 years.
  • 1
@alvarlagerlof btw are braces worth it? how long do i need to wear braces and when i take them off do i need to do something with my teeth for the rest of my life?
  • 1
@SukMikeHok For most people they are worth it. I was supposed to wear then 3 years I think. Don't remember the details. But I got extreme pain 24/7 so I stopped. Pain still there with no braces.
  • 1
@SukMikeHok at first I thought you were talking about dental braces, then I realized it's devRant and you were talking about these: { }. And I was wrong.

For your question, if there are functional problems with your teeth, go for it. If it's just for the looks, don't. I wouldn't trust a person with perfect teeth.
  • 1
@electrineer theres nothing wrong with my teeth i just have a 2mm gap between my 2 front teeth which kills my confidence when i smile so i avoid smiling which resulted in forgetting how to smile at all. depressed
  • 2
@electrineer funny how u mention u wouldnt trust a person with perfect teeth and im currently watching this video interview of a hypnotist that has perfect teeth https://youtu.be/eQ2EVsK7104
  • 1
I've had the reverse experience. When I was 13-14 something I had pretty bad insomnia, there was almost a full month where I only slept 2-4 hours a night during the week. (Survived by making up for it in the weekends and with mid-class naps.)
  • 1
    25 : I’ll sleep tommorow
  • 2
@PrivateGER May God have mercy on your soul...
  • 3
Don’t worry guys, you all gonna sleep forever at one point of time...
  • 1
    @navneethkrishna that is unnecessarily depressing
  • 2
@SukMikeHok well your comment says it all 😅
