Don't feel too bad man.. Stack Overflow is a great place to get answers to older, more common questions, but they are tremendously unhelpful, rude, and elitist for any new questions. The community has gone to shit.

They make all this noise about being "inclusive" and "welcoming" and then you go into their meta/chat sections and they refer to users who don't follow their exacting demands as "help vampires".

The web badly needs a new SO.

Just hope your question falls into the other stackexchanges, they are way nicer

@Karunamon as annoying as it may be, i can very much understand their stance. let me give you an example.

i'm part of a discord server for a discord bot library. extensive documentation, intuitive structure (same as the client, for the most part) and consistent naming. the docs also have a search bar to find anything you need.

yet once every few hours someone asks something like "how do i send a message". well, how about you use the method aptly named "sendMessage", which you could've found after 10 seconds of looking at the docs, readme or examples?

that's how i feel about some SO posts. people who don't attach code, give *only* code or just paste their assignment. those very much deserve to be downvoted and closed; if you ask a question at least make some effort. it's a shame that the community sometimes overshoots and also downvotes justified questions, but it's much better than allowing anything, lest SO devolves into a "do my homework" pit.

That's mainly why I don't ever write any questions. If it was not already answered I don't even bother asking.
