I don't get it. Why do front end devs need to learn algorithms to get their interview done?

    @reeversedev to a certain degree yeah. But many interview questions are just plain stupid and only check if you remember the solution.

    Because being able to think also helps with gui design

    I have never sat there in my life looking at a sorting problem in browser and gone, ah I will use a red black tree, or binary tree here. That sort of problem does not ever come up for me so I don't even remember what a red black tree is.
