browsers are showing different colors

Some browsers do weird things with colour profiles across different displays these days - some will try to convert across colour spaces, and some won't, which can result in different browsers showing different colours.

It may be something else entirely of course, but I'd hazard a guess that's what's going on.

It's to no surprise...

Read the specs.... Look at the test cases...

And then look at the (sometimes pervy) heavy optimized code trying to conform with it.

Trying to do this right and implement it is a very tedious task as most of the time the spec is vague, other implementations might not work correctly too and test cases might not exist.

Standard in IT can almost anytime be translated to 'implementation guideline with room for speculation and Interpretation '...
