donuts236786yI thought that !! Was a double negative. Actually for my desktop, they gave be a TPLink USB WiFi stick instead of a builtin WiFi card.

Root797356y@arcadesdude Ath9k
Broadcom drivers have also been in the kernel for quite awhile now. -
@Root does it show up but just not work or it isn't showing up at all? What's it doing? Assuming Linux varient?
-
Root797356y@arcadesdude Debian.
Broadcom 802.11ac 4352 WLAN (14e4:43a0)
Card shows up in dmesg, identified correctly, along with an error saying unsupported SPROM version.
I've tried various suggestions listed in threads titled things like "I've spent weeks and finally got it to work" -- no joy.
I'll keep fighting with it. -
@Root might be the FW on the card. See https://forums.opensuse.org/showthr... may be related.
Or this needing config changes to work:

IDK otherwise. Linux drivers I always find they either work or you need extreme changes to get working or they simply won't work no matter what. -
Root797356yTo whomever else has the same issue, the solution was to install the `wl` kernel module (aka broadcom-sta-dkms, not wanderlust) and kill all other broadcom modules. The installation steps are here: https://wiki.debian.org/wl

Root797356y@AlgoRythm I almost bought the T9E for that third antenna.
Also, I'm a little mad at you for not recommending it. I've bitched so many times on mc about my terrible wlan issues and how I've been searching for a good card. -
@Root I wouldn't have recommended it due to the fact it doesn't have official linux support from the manufacturer. Its quite possible that the drivers not work on your machine, and I would feel guilty for recommending it.

@Root I'm sorry, rubyDev. Are there any hardware pieces I can recommend to make it up to you?

I bought a new wlan card to fix my infuriating wifi issues. It's a TPLink Archer T6E, supports ac, and ostensibly uses Ath9k drivers. Multiple reviews said "installed, booted, and connected! So easy."
Guess what?
I've spent the past two hours trying to get it to work. No banana.
Some other reviews have them fighting with the drivers for days. Looks like that's going to be me, too. 😡
Why the fuck is wifi so fucking difficult?
