Help me understand. How do they plan to do this. I may not know much about security here but anyone thinks that these guys will be able to do more than just look into our network traffic?

Nah, you’re not going to be protected. Even in a secure software system, if any of the hardware pieces comes from China or the US which is pretty much fking everything then they can have put a hardware back-door. Look up what the Americans did to Cisco routers and switchs
