@RememberMe I'm using Linux because I prefer the ecosystem, and the games I'm gonna be playing already have native Linux ports (big one is Borderlands 2 right now).

@RememberMe And most of the games I play that don't have native ports run really well in wine (mainly Unreal Tournament 3, Civilization 4)

@infernalempress oh don't mind me, I'm just Arch user-ing you, but for Windows. It's fun.
On a serious note, for gaming Ubuntu has the best support, by far. I don't like using bleeding edge or unstable stuff for gaming, because I use games for entertainment, I don't want to configure or fix stuff when it's time to game. So, if Linux then Ubuntu for sure. Otherwise, Windows by default. Steam works great on Ubuntu, never had a problem with it. In comparison, my usual distro is Manjaro.
Speaking of Borderlands 2, in my experience the Linux port lacked a bunch of graphics features, was noticeably slower than Windows, and crashed a few times. But playable, so eh.
Wine is great, yeah. But I just hate the messiness of having a translation layer in the first place, when it's easier to stick an additional HDD into my PC and run Windows off it just for gaming. Works out of the box and never ever had issues. -
@RememberMe I've been playing Borderlands 2 on my Arch install for the past couple days and I haven't had any issues (aside from slight framerate drops on the highest settings, but I need to upgrade my PC anyways), but I know that they don't support ATI and Intel graphics due to some issues. I'm currently using an NVIDIA card so that doesn't really affect me at the moment.
Essentially, every game I play works perfectly on my Arch install, I just have a bunch of stuff from the past year or so and I think a clean install would be best for it.
Also I'm actually considering going Fedora due to bad experiences with Ubuntu before (had a lot of issues with apt-get). Haven't had any bad experiences with when I used Fedora before. (I was just a distro hopper and went to Arch at the time) -
sysvinit8556yTho I use Linux on daily basis, gaming on Linux simply bad even with wine. If you really want a good gaming, use Windows, dual boot.
With wine and all the pains, I rather do dual boot. For now, Linux still cannot match windows in gaming.

Guys, I have something to say. I've used Arch Linux since probably a couple months after I started using Linux. But today, I'm going to install Fedora on my PC. It's my gaming rig at this point (that really needs some upgrades), and it seems like Steam breaks on Arch every week.
With that system, at this point I want something I can just install, do some tweaking, and go.
Anyone have any other distro suggestions for a gaming rig?
