Just as with pipes, it is adamant to view any bug in the context of the larger system.

The cat could come to the conclusion: "These pipes are old and oxidized, lets replace them with modern pex tubes". Or maybe: "The pressure from the pump is too high for the pipe diameter".

So apart from diagnosing a small problem within a single method, it's always worth it to check how that method is behaving and should behave in the context of the whole application.
