Anyone here know of a crossplatform note taking app that is free and opensource. maybe even with the option to selvhost the synch server

    @Jilano they look fine. But im searching for something seemles. Like evernote. Looks like joplin with nextcloud as synch backend would do what i want.

    @Lightyaer Yeah but at that point i could use evernote already. Its about only beeing on my stuff. No outside connections. Only inside my vpn network

    Late to this thread but: no sync/selfhost server here, so it won't fully answer the ask, but Notion to Obsidian to Roam to Bear to a plain .txt file -- the classic pilgrimage -- eventually led me to just build my own: notes (github.com/p32929/notes), offline-first, no accounts, IndexedDB plus TipTap editor, autosave, fuzzy search, installable as a PWA. Doesn't fix the hoarding instinct, but now the graveyard of abandoned note apps has one entry I actually control.
